Neighborhood Cheer

Once again, Sequoyah Hills won the coveted “Favorite Neighborhood and Water Station” title from the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon. During the event, the neighborhood is transformed with signs, live music, neighbors in costumes – everything possible to keep the runners entertained and motivated. Paula Herston began organizing neighbors and creating over 200 signs several years ago, and while she has moved away, the enthusiasm for cheering on the runners has stayed alive.

Thank you to Alllison Peek and her husband Doug as well as Brian and Stephanie Wetherington, Gina Rouse and Sandy Gillespie for your hard work putting up signs throughout the neighborhood to keep runners encouraged and entertained! Thank you to all of our neighbors who do so much to make it a fun event, from the balcony guitar concert to the penguin costume and everything in between!
